In an effort to reduce the potential spread of the Coronavirus, effective Tuesday, March 17, 2020, Elizabethton City Schools will be closed through April 3rd. Additionally, all school-sponsored events, including athletic competitions and practices have also been suspended indefinitely. The Extended School Program will be open today after school, but will also suspend operations until we return to school.
Students have received information and/or materials from their teachers to minimize the loss of instruction during this closing. Students should not begin working on these assignments until after the conclusion of spring break. We encourage you to continue preventative measures, such as frequent hand washing and social distancing, to further prevent the spread of the virus.
Students ages 18 and under will be able to receive meals during the closure. East Side Elementary, Harold McCormick Elementary, and West Side Elementary will be open Monday through Friday during the hours of 9:00-9:30 for breakfast and 12:00-12:45 for lunch. These meals will be distributed using a car line pickup process in the parking lots. We encourage everyone to stay in their cars during the distribution process. Adults may also purchase a meal for $3.75. These cafeterias will not be open for sit-down meals. These meals will also not be available during spring break.
As we move forward, there may be a need to extend the school closure. If this is necessary, you will be notified through this messaging system, local media outlets, and social media. We will provide daily updates using this messaging service between 3:00-4:00. We also encourage you to visit our website at www.ecshools.net for additional updates.
