6th Grade Core Assignments for Coronavirus Break

Week 1

Math-  

Day 1-5:  Please be sure to refer to the green instruction sheet that was sent home with the work packets.

            Complete the Review Packet through “Unit 3: Mixed Review Readiness” (this has page number 230 in the bottom left corner.)

            Also, complete Week 1 assignments in TCAP Common Core Assessment Book (this is the purple book.)  These assignments are again, listed on the back of the green instruction sheet.

            Students are remined to show their work.  This work should be completed by April 3.  All of this information is also available on Bloomz along with additional information about Khan Academy.

ELA-

Day 1: Read 20 minutes out of silent reading book and update reading log.

            -Chapter 11 Roll of Thunder activities/plot diagram.

Day 2: Read 20 minutes out of silent reading book and update reading log.

            -Chapter 12 Roll of Thunder characterization activity and effects of racism chart.

Day 3: Read 20 minutes out of silent reading book and update reading log.

            -Roll of Thunder Test (1-70)

Day 4: Read 20 minutes out of silent reading book and update reading log.

            -Read writing prompt passages & prompt and create a graphic organizer.

Day 5: Read 20 minutes out of silent reading book and update reading log.

-Using your graphic organizer from yesterday, write a well-developed, organized essay in response to yesterday’s prompt.

 

Science-

Day 1: -Complete 6 notecards for Ch. 8: Lesson 1 
-Make a list of all the places on Earth you can find water...be creative! Include illustrations if you wish! 
Day 2: -Complete outline for Ch. 8: Lesson 1, which is within your take-home packet. Read pgs. 276-283 to better understand the outline. 
Day 3: -Complete 5 notecards for Ch. 8: Lesson 2. 
Day 4: -Complete outline for Ch. 8: Lesson 2 (pgs. 286-292.) 
Day 5: -Review concept Friday. 
Create a foldable with these types of energy: Kinetic and Potential. Define each and give examples of each. 
Front example: You can place other examples on the front as well. 
Inside: Place any additional pictures, definitions, and real-world examples on for both potential and kinetic energy. Also, explain the various forms of potential i.e., chemical and gravitational 
Or Venn Diagram: This is another option instead of the previous foldable. Remember not to copy, and place newly found information from your internet research.

Day 7: -Complete outline for Chapter 8: Lesson 3 (pgs. 295-300.) 
Day 8: -Make sure all of you Ch. 8 note cards are complete and in order. 
Day 9: -Complete the Standardized Test Practice on pgs. 308-309 in your textbook (the online textbook is available here). Just write your answers on a sheet of paper and label it. 
Day 10: -Review concept Friday.
