Hello! I am the school counselor at Harold McCormick Elementary. This will be my 28th year educating children in Tennessee as I’ve served as a classroom teacher, school counselor, and district instructional coach. I am excited to make this my best year at HME.
I grew up in Elizabethton where I attended Hunter Elementary for Kindergarten through 5th grade. I then attended Unaka Elementary for 6th-8th grade before graduating from Unaka High School in 1985. In 1989, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from East Tennessee State University. I earned my Master of Education in School Counseling degree from ETSU in 1993. I’ve enjoyed working with students and teachers in Johnson City Schools and Elizabethton City Schools for many years. I am married and have two adult children and a dog. I love to travel and my hobbies include photography and creating video montages.
The counseling program at HME helps students be successful in school by impacting their academic, personal/social and career development. I work individually with students and in small groups. I also visit the classrooms once each week and teach guidance lessons. Please talk with your child about our classroom discussions. Let's work together to make this your child's best year yet!
